Surb Sarkis Church is a 19th-century Armenian church in Ashtarak, probably built on older foundations. Later restoration gives parts of the building a newer look, but older carved stones and inscriptions survive in the fabric.
The church is a worthwhile extra stop if you are already walking between Ashtarak's better-known medieval churches and the Kasagh River gorge. It is not as distinctive as Karmravor, but it adds another layer to the town's dense church landscape.
