Heuriger Reinprecht

Large, classic Grinzing Heuriger opposite the village church

Address Cobenzlgasse 22, Grinzing

One of the best-known wine taverns in Grinzing, set in a former monastery building opposite the village church with a big, vine-shaded garden. Reinprecht is firmly on the traditional-tourist circuit — expect Viennese Schrammel music in the evenings and coachloads in high season — but the formula is the genuine article: the estate's own young wine by the Viertel, and a long warm-and-cold buffet of roast meats, spreads and Strudel.

Come on a warm evening, find a spot under the vines, and work through a carafe of Grüner Veltliner. It is touristy and it knows it, but it remains a comfortable, atmospheric introduction to the Heuriger ritual. Open from spring to late autumn.
