Steinerwirt is one of the most reliably good restaurants in Zell am See's old town, popular with both locals and visitors without being a tourist trap. The menu is solidly Austrian: Wiener Schnitzel from veal, Tafelspitz (boiled beef) with horseradish, Käsespätzle (cheese noodles), and seasonal game dishes in autumn. The portions are generous and the prices are fair for a resort town.
The dining room is warm and traditional — wooden panelling, checked tablecloths — and the service is efficient. Book a table in winter high season; in summer it's generally easier to walk in, though weekends can still be busy.
