The town centre is compact and walkable. A bypass tunnel keeps through traffic out of the pedestrianised core. Free ski buses connect Zell am See with Kaprun and the various lift stations during the winter season — these run frequently and are included with a lift pass. In summer, the regional Postbus network covers the valley; timetables are at the bus stop across from the train station.
The lake can be crossed by shuttle boat in summer, linking the town shore with the Seecamp campsite on the western bank. Bikes are available to hire from several outlets in town.
