Shirin Su Bathhouse

The Shirin Su (Sweet Water) bathhouse is a small nineteenth-century hammam in the old town, built over the spring that gave it its name. The interior is a sequence of domed chambers in dressed limestone, lit through star-shaped vents in the cupolas — the classic Caucasian bathhouse plan.

The building is no longer in use as a bath but has been restored as a small monument; you can usually walk into the cold room and the central hot chamber. Look for the carved stone basins still set into the walls.
