Ordubad National Park — The mountains rising immediately north and east of Ordubad fall within this protected area, established to conserve the forests, gorges, and high-altitude landscapes of the southern Zangezur range. The park encompasses a significant altitude range — from valley floor to peaks above 3,000 metres — with beech and oak forest giving way to subalpine meadows. Day walks into the lower park are feasible from Ordubad with a local guide; the upper sections require a longer excursion.
Nakhchivan City — The regional capital, 80 kilometres north, is the obvious day trip from Ordubad. The Momine Khatun Mausoleum, the Nakhchivan History Museum, and the reconstructed Noah's Tomb are the main draws. Shared taxis run throughout the day in both directions.
Agdere and the village route — The road between Ordubad and Agdere passes through several old villages with surviving traditional architecture — stone houses with wooden upper storeys, old bridges over stream gullies, terraced orchards climbing the hillsides. A half-day drive through these villages, stopping at roadside stalls, gives a good sense of rural Nakhchivan life.
Julfa — Sixty kilometres north of Ordubad, Julfa (Culfa) is the crossing point into Iran and the site of a significant medieval necropolis, largely destroyed in the twentieth century. The surviving khachkar fragments and the border setting on the Araz River make it a worthwhile stop en route to or from Nakhchivan City.
