Ucka Nature Park

Beech-forested mountain massif rising steeply behind Opatija

The mountain behind Opatija rises steeply from the coast to the summit of Vojak (1,396 m), the highest point of the Ucka range. The whole massif is protected as Ucka Nature Park, and the contrast with the Riviera below is startling — dense beech forests, meadows with wildflowers in spring, and on clear days a panoramic view from the Alpine foothills to the islands of the Kvarner. The most direct route up from Opatija takes about three hours on foot. There is also a road to a car park near the top from the inland side. The summit lookout tower is open in summer.
