Šibenik City Museum

Address Gradska vrata 3, 22000 Šibenik

The city museum occupies the Prince's Palace, a fifteenth-century Venetian residence built into the old town walls beside the cathedral square. The permanent collection covers Šibenik from prehistory through the Liburnian tribes, Roman trade, the Venetian centuries and the Yugoslav era — small but well laid out, with English labelling.

Temporary exhibitions in the adjacent rooms tend to be the more interesting part, often showcasing local artists or particular episodes of city history. Entry is cheap and the building itself — vaulted halls, a courtyard with a stone wellhead — is worth the visit on its own.
