New City Hall

The Nová radnice, finished in 1930, is the largest city hall in the Czech Republic and a centrepiece of inter-war functionalist architecture. Its 86-metre tower has a public observation gallery near the top with views across the rooftops of Moravská Ostrava and over to the chimneys of Vítkovice.

The grand entrance hall and the council chamber are open to the public on weekdays, and the tower is open year-round with longer hours in summer. The building stands at the head of the Ostravice riverfront promenade and is a good orientation point.
