Enghaveparken is a mid-20th-century park in the heart of Vesterbro near the Meatpacking District, recently rebuilt to include a large-scale flood management system beneath the lawns and playgrounds. The redesign, completed in the early 2020s, makes it one of the most sophisticated climate-adaptation projects in Copenhagen — the park can absorb huge quantities of rainwater during cloudbursts, reducing flooding in the surrounding streets.
It remains a functioning neighbourhood park: football pitches, play areas, benches, and summer events. The climate infrastructure is invisible in normal conditions, which is part of the point.
