The Culture Yard is a cultural centre built in the old shipyard buildings on the waterfront just north of the town centre and directly below Kronborg Castle. The dramatic industrial architecture — long brick halls with massive timber roofs — has been converted into a library, concert halls, and exhibition spaces that together form one of the main cultural venues in northern Zealand.
The building is worth visiting for its architecture alone: the combination of restored 19th-century shipyard sheds with contemporary glass and steel additions, right on the water with views across the Øresund to Helsingborg in Sweden, is particularly good. The café has one of the better water-view terraces in Helsingør.
