The waterfront promenade, the castle museum, and the battlefield at Dybbøl are the three obvious places to spend time. Beyond those, Sønderborg rewards an aimless walk: the harbour edge has been redeveloped into one of the better small-town waterfronts in Denmark, with cafes, a wave-shaped multi-storey complex, and views out to the Alssund.
