Glims Farmstead Museum

Open-air museum of an 18th-century farmstead in original location

Glims is a wooden farmstead that has stood on this site since the 1750s and was donated, as is, to the Espoo City Museum in 1958. Unlike most open-air folk museums, the buildings here were not relocated — you are walking through an actual working farm that the family handed over rather than into a curated reconstruction. The result is unusually atmospheric, with the original main house, barn, smoke sauna, granary, and several outbuildings still in place.

Guided tours run in summer; the rest of the year the site is open as a stop on the local walking trail. The museum cafe in the main building serves Finnish coffee bread (pulla) and karelian pies. It's a fifteen-minute bus ride from Leppävaara station.
