Craft Museum of Finland

The Craft Museum of Finland (Suomen käsityön museo) is the national museum dedicated to Finnish craft traditions, housed in a converted 1920s school building in central Jyväskylä. The collections span textiles, ceramics, metalwork, and woodwork from the 19th century to the present, with a particular emphasis on the way craft traditions intersect with Finnish cultural identity.

The museum does not treat craft as a quaint historical relic — the exhibitions are often thematic, connecting historical techniques to contemporary practice, and temporary shows frequently feature living craftspeople. There is a shop selling quality Finnish craft products, and workshops are run regularly for visitors who want hands-on experience. The museum is one of the more thoughtfully curated in central Finland.
