Kuokkala Church is a modern Finnish church whose appeal is architectural rather than monumental. Wood, brick, and controlled light give the interior a calm, almost Nordic-lantern quality, far removed from the heavy stone churches travellers may expect elsewhere in Europe.
It is a good short stop if you are interested in Jyväskylä's design culture and not only in Alvar Aalto. The church is active, so treat it as a quiet public building first and a piece of architecture second.
