Palais de Justice

Lyon's historic Palais de Justice, also known as the "24 columns", was built between 1835 and 1842 by Louis-Pierre Baltard. Its long neoclassical facade faces the Saone at the edge of Vieux Lyon.

The building is still associated with the courts, so most visits are about seeing the architecture from outside. It is also remembered as the site of the 1987 trial of Klaus Barbie, the former head of the Lyon Gestapo.
