Rue du Boeuf runs through Vieux Lyon parallel to Rue Saint-Jean, but with a quieter, more lived-in feel. The appeal is the same old-Lyon mix of Renaissance facades, narrow stone streets, and traboule entrances, without quite the same crush of visitors.
It works best as part of a slow walk through the old town. Detour here after the cathedral or the traboules, then use the street as a calmer route between the busier lanes of Vieux Lyon.
