The historic core of Dijon is small and almost entirely pedestrianised — you will walk everywhere within the old town. Two modern tram lines (T1, T2) connect the train station to the centre, the university, and the outer suburbs. A flat 24-hour ticket covers all trams and city buses.
The Vélodi short-term bike scheme has stations across the centre; the city is flat and bike-friendly. A self-guided walking tour on the brass owl markers set into the pavement leads you past the main sights of the old town — pick up the map from the tourist office on Place Darcy.
