Shopping

Dijon's specialist food shops are part of the city's identity. The mustard houses — Maille on Rue de la Liberté and Edmond Fallot, headquartered in nearby Beaune — sell freshly drawn mustard pumped from ceramic jars, plus the regional specialities (mustard with cassis, with tarragon, with honey). The Mulot et Petitjean shops sell pain d'épices (Burgundian spiced bread), a Dijon staple since the 18th century.

Rue de la Liberté is the main shopping street; the smaller boutiques and antique shops are along Rue Verrerie and Rue Auguste Comte in the old town.
