Jardin Botanique Dominique Alexandre Godron

The Jardin Godron is Nancy's main botanical garden, a small but well-maintained collection of plants laid out in the grounds of the old university quarter. Named for the 19th-century botanist who helped establish it, the garden is more interesting as a quiet urban escape than as a comprehensive botanical collection — but the glasshouses contain some good tropical specimens and the garden as a whole is free to enter.

It sits in the same quarter as the university and the Aquarium Museum, making it easy to combine in an afternoon walk through the university district. In spring, when the beds are in flower and the chestnuts in the adjoining streets are in bloom, it is one of the prettier corners of the city.
