Nancy rewards slow walking. The city centre is compact enough to see most of it on foot in a day: the golden gates of the Place Stanislas, the medieval lanes of the Vieille Ville, and the Art Nouveau villas in the leafy residential streets to the south. The Musée de l'École de Nancy alone is worth a dedicated half day for anyone interested in design.
