Two enormous stone warehouses built in the 1670s to store the salt needed by Honfleur's cod-fishing fleet — at peak the cellars held some 10,000 tonnes of salt. The buildings are extraordinarily tall and bare inside, with massive timber roofs. After centuries of decline they have been restored and now host temporary art shows, concerts, and the occasional auction.
Worth stepping inside if there is an exhibition on, and worth circling around even if there is not — the masonry alone is impressive.
