The Trinkhalle, or pump room, is a long colonnaded hall built between 1839 and 1842 next to the Kurhaus. Spa-goers traditionally came here to drink a small glass of the hot mineral water, said to be good for the gut — the bronze tap on the wall still runs, and the water is still warm, salty, and faintly metallic.
The arcade is decorated with fourteen large frescoes depicting scenes from local legends, painted by Jakob Götzenberger in the 1840s. It is open daily for free, and now also houses the town's tourist information office and a small cafe. Take five minutes to walk the length of it before or after a visit to the Kurhaus next door.
