Anneliese Brost Musikforum Ruhr

Bochum's main concert hall, opened 2016 in a converted central location

Address Am Kortländer 5, 44787 Bochum

The Musikforum opened in 2016 and finally gave Bochum a concert hall worthy of a serious orchestra. The main hall seats 1,900 and is home to the Bochumer Symphoniker, one of Germany's older professional orchestras. The acoustics were designed with both classical concerts and amplified events in mind, and the hall has proved adaptable.

The building's integration into the central city landscape — it occupies a site in the heart of Bochum near the pedestrian zone — makes it easy to combine with a meal in the Bermuda3Eck. Check the program online before arriving; touring ensembles pass through regularly and tickets are often less expensive than equivalent venues in Cologne or Düsseldorf.
