Halle is a student city and its nightlife reflects that — concentrated, unpretentious, and cheap by western European standards. Around the Kleine Ulrichstrasse and the Sternstrasse you will find the densest cluster of bars, ranging from quiet wine bars to noisy rock pubs. The Objekt 5 is a long-standing student venue with live music and dancing several nights a week.
Cafés are dotted across the centre. The Café Nöö near the Marktplatz is an old reliable. In summer the riverside cafés on the Peißnitz island and along the lower Saale put tables out by the water.
