Oper Halle

The Halle Opera House dates from 1886, a substantial late-19th-century theatre in the eclectic style of the period. The auditorium seats around 700 and the company's repertoire ranges from Handel — naturally, given the city — through 19th-century opera to modern and contemporary work.

Tickets are by central European standards inexpensive. The annual Handel Festival in June, jointly organised with the Handel-Haus, brings star countertenors and period orchestras and is the cultural highlight of the city year.
