Loggos

The smallest of the three villages, on a tight little bay roughly halfway up the east coast. About a dozen houses, three or four tavernas, a single bar, and the disused soap factory at the harbour's edge whose tall chimney signals the place from out at sea.

Loggos has almost no day-tripper traffic — there is nowhere for the big tourist boats to dock — which gives it the most settled atmosphere on the island. The swimming is good off the rocks just north of the village, and there are coastal paths in both directions through olive groves to even smaller coves.

A story
The big stone building dominating the south end of the bay is the abandoned 19th-century olive soap factory. Olive oil was the island's main export until the 1950s, and soap-making was the second industry. Plans to restore the building as a museum surface every few years and quietly subside.
