Thassos is ringed with beaches, ranging from long sandy stretches on the east coast to secluded marble-white coves in the south. The road that circles the island makes it easy to sample several in a day. The east coast gets the most visitors; the south is quieter and, in places, genuinely remote.
Golden Beach and Paradise Beach near Skala Potamia are the best-known, but the real surprises are further south — the marble beach at Saliara and the natural pool at Giola are unlike anything else on the island. Go early, go by boat if you can, and bring your own food.
