FICO (Fabbrica Italiana Contadina) opened in 2017 on the eastern edge of Bologna as the largest food theme park in the world: a covered ten-hectare site with farms, demonstration kitchens, fields of vines and olive trees, dozens of restaurants, and stalls selling Italian regional foods.
The reality has been more modest than the hype — opening hours and tenants have shifted several times — but FICO is still a genuinely interesting half-day if you have an appetite. It is best reached by the dedicated bus from the train station. Free entry; you pay for food and demonstrations. Worth checking the current programme before going.
