San Giorgio in Poggiale is a former 16th-century church in central Bologna, now used by the Genus Bononiae foundation as an art and history library. The building still reads as a church from the outside, while the interior has been adapted for books, exhibitions, and cultural events.
It is not one of Bologna's headline churches, but it is a worthwhile stop if you are already exploring the streets west of Piazza Maggiore and want to see how the city has reused some of its historic religious buildings.
