Fellini Museum

Opened in 2021 and instantly the most important visitor draw in Rimini, the Fellini Museum spreads across three sites: Castel Sismondo, the Palazzo del Fulgor, and the redesigned Piazza Malatesta between them. Costumes, set pieces, sketches, and immersive video rooms walk you through a career that defined Italian cinema for half a century.

Allow at least two hours. The Cinema Fulgor — the actual cinema where the young Fellini watched his first films, lovingly restored to its 1950s rococo — is part of the visit and still shows movies in the evening.

A story
Federico Fellini was born in Rimini in 1920 and grew up watching travelling circuses set up on the same beach where he later filmed the closing scene of I Vitelloni. The town's huge ocean-liner — a Hollywood-style cruise ship glimpsed in Amarcord — is a memory, not a real boat: he conjured it out of childhood imagination and a polystyrene mock-up at Cinecittà.
