Via Condotti

Rome's most glamorous shopping street — the Italian fashion houses on one block

Address Via Condotti, 00187 Rome

Via Condotti is the most concentrated luxury shopping street in the world — a short block descending from the Spanish Steps to the Tiber lined with Gucci, Prada, Valentino, Armani, Bulgari, Fendi, and most of the other major Italian fashion houses. Even if you are not buying, it is worth walking to observe the architecture of the flagship stores and the particular intensity of the displays.

At the top of the street, the Antico Caffè Greco (founded 1760, the oldest coffee bar in Rome) offers an excuse to sit inside and see the street at its most composed. Goethe, Casanova, Keats, and Wagner all drank here. The prices are high but the experience is genuine.
