Polignano’s Borgo Antico is a compact maze of white lanes, small squares, arches, and terraces that open suddenly over the Adriatic. It is easy to walk through too fast; the better approach is to follow every little opening toward the sea.
The old town is busiest in the evening, when restaurants fill and the stone lanes glow under soft light. Early morning is quieter and better for noticing the architecture rather than the crowds.
