The Abbey of San Vito stands on the coast northwest of Polignano, beside a small harbour and fishing village. Its pale walls, loggia, and sea-facing position make it one of the loveliest short excursions from town.
The abbey is tied to the cult of Saint Vitus, Polignano’s patron, and the setting is half the point. Come for a slower coastal scene than central Polignano: boats, stone, shallow water, and the old religious building watching over it all.
