Ragusa sits at the centre of one of Sicily's best food zones. The surrounding Iblean plateau produces excellent olive oil, almonds, and carob, and the chefs here know what to do with them. The town of Modica, 15 km south, is famous across Italy for its cold-process chocolate — worth a stop on any day trip.
