Merano Arte, or Kunst Meran, gives the spa town a sharper contemporary edge. The gallery occupies a building on the medieval Portici arcades and mounts changing exhibitions across fine art, photography, architecture, literature, and new media rather than relying on a permanent collection.
It is a compact visit, but a useful counterweight to Merano's gardens, promenades, and Belle Epoque polish. Drop in when the current exhibition interests you, then step straight back into the old town arcades for coffee or a slow wander through the centre.
