Therme Meran

The modern Therme Meran (Terme di Merano) is a large spa and thermal baths complex built in 2005 beside the Passirio River, continuing the town's centuries-old tradition as a health destination. The pools — indoor and outdoor, thermal and non-thermal — are fed by the local mineral springs and the facility includes various saunas, treatment areas, and a large outdoor section overlooking the mountains.

It is a well-designed facility in a genuinely beautiful setting, popular with both health tourists from Germany and Austria and Italians on weekend breaks. You can spend an entire day here between the pools, saunas, and restaurant. The contrast between the modern glass-and-steel baths building and the vineyard-covered slopes rising behind it is distinctly South Tyrolean.
