Bars and Cafes

Trento drinks well — Trentodoc sparkling wines, a long aperitif culture inherited from the Austro-Hungarian years, and a sufficient student population (from the University of Trento) to keep the late hours moving. The cafe terraces on Piazza Duomo and the Piazza Battisti are the obvious daytime choices; the wine bars cluster on the streets around Via Belenzani and the medieval quarter behind the Duomo.

Enoteca Lunelli is the city's flagship sparkling-wine bar, run by the family behind the Ferrari Trentodoc winery. Caffè Italia on Piazza Battisti is the long-established cafe for an early-morning espresso. For something later and louder, Bookique is a converted bookshop in the new Le Albere district that doubles as a concert venue and craft-beer bar.
