Trento sits on the Brenner railway line, the main rail route between Italy and Austria, which makes it an unusually well-connected city for its size. Direct trains run hourly to Verona (under an hour), Bolzano (40 minutes), and Innsbruck (about two and a half hours), and several times a day to Munich, Rome, and Venice. The station is a short walk from the old town.
By road, the A22 Brenner motorway runs alongside the railway and provides the fastest car connection in either direction. The nearest international airports are Verona (about 90 minutes by road) and Bergamo (two hours); both have low-cost flights from across Europe.
