The town's painting gallery occupies the upper floor of the 13th-century Palazzo Vallemani on Via San Francesco. The collection focuses on Umbrian artists from the 13th to the 17th centuries — frescoes and panels rescued from churches around Assisi, including works by Giotto's followers (the so-called Maestro Espressionista di Santa Chiara), Tiberio d'Assisi, and Dono Doni.
The gallery is small enough to visit in an hour, and the building itself — frescoed rooms with painted beams — is part of the attraction. A good stop for anyone who has been moved by the basilica frescoes and wants to see the wider Umbrian school.
