Holy Trinity Church

Early 19th-century Catholic church restored after Soviet-era damage

Holy Trinity Church was built in 1803 by the Piarists, a Catholic order with a strong tradition of education. The complex replaced older wooden buildings that had burned, giving the order a stone church, monastery, and school in Panevezys.

The church suffered during wartime and was badly treated under Soviet rule, then was reconsecrated in 1989. It is a modest but worthwhile stop near the centre, especially if you are tracing the city's religious and civic history.
