Getting There

The nearest airport is Tivat (TIV), about 8km south of Kotor by road — a taxi takes 15–20 minutes. Podgorica Airport (TGD) is about 90km away, around an hour and a half by car. Dubrovnik Airport (DBV) in Croatia is a similar distance (around 90km), but the border crossing adds time; count on two hours.

By road from Dubrovnik, the coastal route takes about two hours. The dramatic approach from the north descends from the Lovćen massif on a serpentine road — spectacular but slow; budget extra time if arriving from Cetinje or Podgorica.

Buses connect Kotor to Podgorica, Budva, Herceg Novi, and Dubrovnik; the bus station is just outside the old town walls near the Sea Gate. There is no train connection. Coming by ferry across the Bay of Kotor from Lepetane to Kamenari (near Herceg Novi) saves the long drive around the bay — ferries run frequently throughout the day.
