Kotor punches well above its size. The old town is compact enough to cover in a morning, but the walls, the fortress, the bay, and the surrounding villages keep you busy for days. The Cathedral of Saint Tryphon anchors the historic centre; the climb to the fortress above is the single best thing you can do here. Then there is the rest of the bay — the islands off Perast, the donkey path up to Lovćen, the half-empty fishing village of Muo a quarter of an hour's walk around the head of the harbour.
