Stolphoevekerk is the oldest church in Volendam, a small wooden Protestant church built in 1658. Its low, simple form is easy to miss among the busier sights of the old centre, but it is one of the village's more distinctive historic buildings.
The church is still in use and is often closed to casual visitors, so treat it mainly as an exterior stop while walking through old Volendam. It is worth a brief detour if you are interested in the village before souvenir shops and harbour crowds took over the image.
