Zutphen's main market square, a handsome cobbled space flanked by historic merchants' houses and the Drogenapstoren. The Saturday market is the social heart of the town — local farmers, cheese sellers, flower stalls, and street food gather here from early morning, drawing both locals and visitors from across the Achterhoek.
The square has been a trading place since the Middle Ages, and the quality of the surrounding façades reflects Zutphen's Hanseatic prosperity. Even outside market days it is a pleasant place to sit at one of the café terraces and take in the skyline: the Walburgiskerk tower to one side, the gabled rooflines on the other. A good central reference point for exploring the old town on foot.
