Archaeological Museum

Poznan's Archaeological Museum fills the Renaissance Gorka Palace near the Old Market Square. The collection is large and varied, with strong sections on the archaeology of Wielkopolska and an Egyptian collection that is unusual for a regional Polish museum.

The palace setting makes the visit more attractive than a plain display hall would be. It is a good stop if you want older context for Poznan before walking Cathedral Island and the medieval core.
