One of the best traditional Portuguese restaurants in Lisbon, at Rua das Portas de Santo Antão 150 — the restaurant street that runs north from Rossio. Solar dos Presuntos has been serving straightforward, excellent Portuguese food since 1976: bacalhau in multiple preparations, roast suckling pig, cozido à portuguesa (the national stew of meats and vegetables), and regional wines from across the country.
The dining room is lined with azulejo tiles and hung with ceramic platters; the atmosphere is that of a serious, unhurried lunch rather than a quick tourist meal. The presunto (cured ham) for which the restaurant is named hangs in the entrance. Reservations recommended.
