The Palatul Apollo was built in 1914 as a mixed commercial and residential building, with shops on the ground floor and apartments above. The façade is one of the more theatrical examples of late Secession in Oradea: a curved corner topped by a small dome, ornamental ironwork, and a relief of Apollo above the main entrance that gives the building its name.
The architect, Komor Marcell, was responsible for several of the best palaces on this side of the river — including the nearby Moskovits and Stern buildings — and the three together make a clear circuit if you want to compare how Oradean Art Nouveau evolved in the decade before the First World War.
