Yekaterinburg has a livelier bar scene than its size would suggest, partly thanks to the student population and the city's reputation as a centre of contemporary Russian music. Most of the action is in the streets behind Lenin Avenue, around Ulitsa Pervomayskaya and Khokhryakova, and along the embankment.
