For Ural specialties — malachite jewellery, Kasli cast iron, gemstone carvings — the best browsing is at Ural Souvenirs on Ulitsa Vaynera (a long pedestrian street) and at the gift shops of the Fine Arts Museum and the Yeltsin Center.
Vaynera Street itself is the city's main pedestrianised shopping zone, lined with statues of local characters and stretching south from Lenin Avenue. Greenwich mall, west of the centre, is a useful all-in-one if the weather is bad.
